Ellen DeGeneres is an amazing person right?

I went to a malaysian school since earlier this year and last week we've been told to make kind of a folio about the people that you look up to..So i did a folio on Ellen DeGeneres bcuz she inspires me a lot! The teacher told me to tell the cl why I pick Ellen. Just when I mention her name some of the guys in the cl were yelling the word 'gay'. I don't know what their problem so I started to talk about her life.She's a vegan, animal lover and everything and the teacher was just fine with it..I skipped the coming out part bcuz its kinda a sensitive issue..i think Malaysia banned all this gay stuff bt Im not gay..Im 16, girl and I think Ellen is an amazing person..Is that wrong?
